    1. PROJECT: Reading habits (stories) among students and its impact on their communication skills: a study by the students of class VI B.
    Subject: English
    Topic: Reading Habits
    2. Objectives:
    1) To inculcate reading habit among students.
    2) To assess the effect of reading habits on communication skills.
    3)To ascertain the relationship between reading habits and better communication skills among students.
    4) To motivate the students to read different types of stories.
    3. Students involved in the project: class VI B Students (49 children).
    4.project outline:
    The students of class VI B will be divided into seven groups. Each group has to do an initial survey in their group regarding the kind of books/stories they read, the frequency at which they read/issue a book from library, the time taken by the student to read a book/story. The finding of each group member will be consolidated by the group leader.A story telling competition/instant role play/extempore speech would be organised for each group. It would be judged on the basis of –Content, expression and fluency.
    A period of two to three weeks will be allotted to each group, within which time they would be motivated to read more stories, keep a record of their reading pattern, write a few story/book review. The group leader will consolidate the data.
    After the allotted time, again a story telling competition/instant role play/extempore speech would be organised for each group. It would be judged on the basis of –Content, expression and fluency. The judgement sheets of the two would be critically analysed and thereby a final report will be presented.

    c)Motivating the team members to read books,narrating stories to each other, sharing books and preparing for the final competition.
    d)Conducting a competition to assess the difference in the communication pattern /skills of the team members.
    e) Analysing the performance of the students after a change in their reading pattern/habit.
    f) Presentation of the result/conclusion obtained in the class by each group and sharing the effort taken.Submission of the Project Report.
