    1. Project: The Functioning of Local Self- governments in cities with special emphasis on Kannur Contonment, highlighting the Swachch Bharat Abhayan undertaken by the Cantonment Board
    Project Completion: November 30, 2016

    Subtopic: Measures to be taken to create a clean India for a healthy population
    2. Objectives:
    1) To create respect towards democratic institutions
    2) To create awareness in the minds of children regarding the function of Local Self-government bodies in our urban centres.
    3) To sensitize children about the need of proper waste management scheme and disposal of garbage for a neat and clean environment
    4) To inculcate the habit of cleanliness in the minds of children and to motivate them to co-operate with the local bodies in the implementation of Swachch Bharat Abhayan for a healthier and better India
    5) To examine and evaluate the performance of Cantonment Board in the implementation of Swachch Bharat Scheme by conducting a case study through collection of data and by interviewing ward councillors

    3. Students involved in the project: Class VI.C students ( 50 children)

    4. Project Outline:
    The class VI.C students are divided into twelve groups, each group has to collect the data ( and share the collected data) regarding the organization, functions, sources of income of the Kannur Contonment and the activities undertaken by the board towards keeping the city pristine under Swachch Bharat Abhayan. Each group has to perform the task entrusted systematically and earnestly. The findings of each group will be consolidated and critically analysed and thereby a final report will be presented for each aspect of the project separately

    a) Collection of data ( the organization, function, sources of income, projects under Swachch Bharat Scheme from different wards)
    b) Classify data/ information gathered by interviews etc. topic wise
    c) Identify the activities, functions, project undertaken in each ward and people's involvement.
    d) Compare the data collected from each ward and find the similarities and differences
    e) Analyse and assess the responses of the local public towards the functioning of the local body and record their suggestions for further improvement.
    f) Study the data/ information collected to find out the involvement of the local public to make the Swachch Bharat Abhayan a great success.
    g) Compare the Swachch Bharat Scheme and activities going on in different wards and people's involvement
    h) Presentation of the results/ conclusions obtained in general class by each group by explaining the method/ procedure/preparation etc. and submission of the project report

    7) Task for group leaders:
    a) Record the conclusions obtained by each group
    b) Discuss the findings by each group.
    c) Consolidate the findings and prepare a final report for presentation
